How long has CAPAZ-MEX been in Yuma County?
CAPAZ-MEX was created by the Regional Center for Border Health, Inc., more than ten years ago through a grant. Even though the funds from the grant have been depleted, CAPAZ-MEX still exists through the continued support from the Regional Center for Border Health, Inc.
If CAPAZ-MEX offers me medical services with up to 65% off regular rates, who pays for the difference?
Because CAPAZ-MEX is a medical discount network, not a health insurance, no one is responsible for the difference. Members are responsible for the payment of the discounted rate directly to the provider.
If I have health insurance with a high deductible, can CAPAZ-MEX help me with discounts until I meet my deductible?
Currently no. CAPAZ-MEX is only available for people who do not have health insurance in the U.S.
If my work offers me Mexican Health Insurance, can I still qualify for CAPAZ-MEX?
Yes, if your health insurance ONLY covers you in Mexico, and you still want access to affordable healthcare services in the U.S., you are eligible for CAPAZ-MEX.
I work seasonally and have benefits 6 months out of the year. Can I get CAPAZ-MEX for only 6 months?
Yes.
Does CAPAZ-MEX offer discounted family memberships?
Yes, after two family members, the third, fourth, and so on receive 50% off enrollment fees.
If I have uninsured family in Mexico, can I buy CAPAZ-MEX for them?
Yes.
If I am receiving or in the process of receiving some type of government assistance (unemployment benefits, AHCCCS, food stamps, etc.), can CAPAZ-MEX interfere with my eligibility?
No, CAPAZ-MEX is a Private Medical Discount Network and will not interfere with any government programs.
What if I am approved for health insurance and I have CAPAZ-MEX?
After enrollment, you have 30 days to request a refund (80% of the amount paid) if you get approved for any health insurance.
How do I find out if my specific procedure is discounted under CAPAZ-MEX?
Only providers can answer questions on a specific procedure and its cost. Remember, even if your specific procedure is not discounted, CAPAZ-MEX can still help you with other costs, such as laboratory or radiology.
Do I have to switch doctors when I enroll in CAPAZ-MEX?
No, you can stay with your current doctor; however, our discounts are only guaranteed though our participating providers. You may choose to keep your primary care provider, and use CAPAZ-MEX for specialists, laboratory, radiology, urgent care, dentistry, and other services.
When Can I start using my membership?
Immediately.
Does my current doctor participate?
Most of our providers’ offices have a sign with the CAPAZ-MEX logo on it. For questions about specific providers, you call us (928) 627-1120.
Should I cancel my current health insurance and join CAPAZ-MEX to save money on monthly premiums and fees?
No. CAPAZ-MEX is a program designed exclusively for the uninsured residents of Yuma County. CAPAZ-MEX is not health insurance, and highly advises against substituting a health insurance with CAPAZ-MEX. CAPAZ-MEX is a low-cost alternative for people who do not qualify or cannot afford health insurance.
